Pastor Hank Langknecht leads congregants in Holy Communion during the service on Sunday, April 2. Participants commune either by dipping wafers into a chalice of wine or grape juice or by drinking from a common chalice. Sometimes described as a “gathering around the means of grace,” the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America believes that Jesus Christ is present during this rite through the power of the Holy Spirit.
