Mount Vernon High School senior Eunice Kwarteng (left) accepts the award for Youth Volunteer. Kwarteng has been a volunteer with the Community Preservation and Development Corporation since 2012. She is a tutor and mentor for more than 100 youth in the community and has created and run adult programs including a Community Day and food giveaways. In a statement, Community Impact Specialist Ryan Barton said, “Without her, our community would not be anywhere near where it is today. She continues to inspire younger youth to give of themselves, and she herself has become an overwhelming proof as to the power of service.”
